compared to? chewing gum? a bag of chips? a strymon pedal? helix? strandberg guitar? comparable tech?StratMatt wrote:Not cheap though is it, the triple play.
Roland GR55 list price rockshop with GK3 pickup $1499
Fishman TriplePlay $750
half the price. haven't seen any second hand, small market I know - but saying that, I've seen a few GR55's take a dive, including mine.
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Re: New BOSS Products coming....
Yeah, if I could pick one up for a bag of chips I'd be pretty happy!
Had a passing interest in one the other day and thought I'd check the price out. Was more expecting $4-500 I suppose. I could definitely integrate it into a few of the songs we play though.

Loving it so far

The Synth sounds on the Strandberg are just a part of it. The really big deal is the (upgraded) V-Guitar technology. Latency free dropped tunings at the flick of a switch and guitar modelling that sounds killer.Bg wrote:yeah, its still old tech though. they've basically not improved their midi/digital algorithms for years. Much of this will just rely on using the gk pickup as a 'piezo a string' input, the usual GK synth stuff is still glitchy and a bit shit compared to fishman.Terexgeek wrote:Boss has been busy:

It's a phenomenal guitar. So phenomenal I'm getting one for myself.....even though they are VERY not cheap.

V-Guitar products use GK technology. They are magnetic pickups - not piezos.Bg wrote:be nice to see. The v-guitar stuff just uses the same old one piezo a string though

Re: New BOSS Products coming....
yeah got my piezo/mag twisted, godin use the piezo. Triple play use mag as well but it works way less glitchy - processing is better and not as prone to setup error.handsoffmatt wrote:V-Guitar products use GK technology. When I got my GR-55 I compared the midi output with what I was getting with my old GR-30 (first made in 1997), and it was actually worse. The GR-55 does improve the quality internally but not what it shoves out to midi - and frankly the GR55 synth tones were cheesy, so you really want to be using external synths/soft synths anyway.
The Virtual section was a lot of fun though, enough to make me want to move to a VG-99 but not at that price they were selling for!!

Just to clear up a misconception though.... any tracking glitches you experience are to do with the synth end, not the GK pickup. The GK pickup (if installed correctly) tracks absolutely perfectly. As is evidenced by the previous Fender/Roland G5 and the new V-BDN (Strandberg). Those guitars have ZERO tracking errors or glitches and no perceivable latency.

Yeah totally, I loved the V guitar aspect of the gr55. I take it there is a new version of the vg-99 on the way too?

I'm perplexed by those fan fret things. Can you just strum normal chords on them or are they only for the widdley twiddley players?handsoffmatt wrote:The Synth sounds on the Strandberg are just a part of it. Thanks Matt. There's a lot of rumours out there about JHS, pretty nasty most of it, and I imagine 99% of it is false.handsoffmatt wrote:https://www.jhspedals.com/jhs-supports-human-rights/jeremyb wrote: Plus apparently he donates money to some world church of hate against LGBTQ peoples
Larrivee 00 Acoustic. FAV Strat for electric. Ibanez SDGR5 for bass. Push for Ableton. When not doing that, 3D CAD for tunnels...
