Find your local Signage / design shop and ask if they have any acrylic offcuts. Most jobs have offcuts that cant be used for anything else and just stack up in a corner of the store for 'just in case'. You can pick them up for dirt depending on whether the owner is a dickhead or not. 2-3mm and you'll be sweet as.Slowy wrote:
So if you're still with me, I'm going to need to make/acquire a new pickguard. For a standard laminate type, I'm not sure where to begin. Advice on sourcing and cutting sought and appreciated.

Re: NCGD: The evolution begins
I suggest start with a blank and create your own shape and layout. I am averse to 'seat of the pants' stuff, so make a template first, get it perfect, then route final product. I have got the tools, router table and extremely messy workshop, so happy to help if we can find a place to both fit in there...Slowy wrote:

When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

So you've got your black 5 hole tele pickguard? I just found mine and it has 5 holes.Molly wrote:One of the guys on here got a pickguard made for his Duesenberg (remember them?). Wasn't too spendy as I recall. Might've been Simon Persson.
I've been planning to have the guys in the school workshops make me a Tele guard on the laser cutter but as luck would have it Steve down in Dunners has one for me. Will still follow up the process just for future reference. Will let you know how it goes.

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Have you tried approaching one of the luthiers/guitar techs around Auckland? http://www.binfordluthiery.com or http://www.guitarrepairs.co.nz/index.html for example?Slowy wrote:....Who came back with a quote of $124.64 to cut a piece of plastic!Slowy wrote:Just sent an enquiry off to these guys.
