BOSS JB-2 GAS
Weird, I cant remember gassing for a Boss pedal. I've owned plenty in the past, but it was always a "that does what I need, is affordable and built well so I'll get it" type butter for the bread type thing. I guess thats why I dont really keep up or open the Boss threads on here... so this may have already been discussed.
That said... what an awesome looking pedal. I've been close to grabbing an Angry Charlie a few times and have had a couple Blues Drivers in the past, so this, for what seems like the first time, has produced a lil bit of Boss pedal GAS.

They're not available ANYWHERE yet. All the demos you have seen are pre-production units.dayl wrote:Its not even for sale here yet
They won't be far away. They start shipping from the factory in October, so should be November arrival.

If I can't lord my awesome job over online forum friends, then what the hell is the point of it?

Re: BOSS JB-2 GAS
That's a great question. I hadn't done it until you just asked - so just spent a few minutes doing so.dayl wrote: So how does the the blues driver section compare to the standard Blues driver? have you run your own lil side by side yet?
(This counts as "work" for me hahaha)
I had heard from one of the BOSS Engineers that both the Angry Charlie side and Blues Driver side have some very minor "tweaks" - done in partnership and in person with Josh Scott.
Comparing it with a BD-2 - it is (as expected) very close. Interestingly I found that at lower gain settings, it's VERY much like a regular BD-2. At higher gain settings though, it acts very much like the "CUSTOM" setting of the BD-2W Waza Craft version, being a little smoother and having a tad more midrange grind than a regular BD-2. This is actually a pretty great outcome.
We're talking very fine degrees here though. Essentially the answer is.....yup - it totally sounds/acts like a Blues Driver.

Re: BOSS JB-2 GAS
Have you had problems with some JHS pedals Ben? Curious! I've only owned 2-3 JHS pedals but I thought they were solid...not quite Boss solid (what is?!...), but certainly very good.bbrunskill wrote:also, being built by BOSS, it might actually be reliable, unlike JHS pedals!

Not personally, I've heard many stories though. And seen some pics of awful rehousing work. I expect that was in the very early days and they've sorted it out by now
