Shut up and take my kidneys! Wait, I don't have any left...
That looks insane. I don't even know how they could improve the II in terms of sound, but that display looks really useful.

Re: Fractal Axe FX III
Want, but totally don’t need. AX8 does plenty enough for me, will probably wait til the next gen of that comes out. This looks freakin impressive though.
Loving it so far

Re: Fractal Axe FX III
just sayin I'd hate it
unless your a professional and have unlimited time to explore theres just too many options and I'm never happy and always doubting that's theres some slightly better combination of sounds in there. Everytime I get something remotely like this I spend all my time tweaking instead of just being happy with it and actually playing
I know plenty don't and would love it but that's my cross, Ive decided my time is better spent playing perhaps with a slightly less than perfect sound. Al teast I'm playing instead of hunched over twiddling all the time

Re: Fractal Axe FX III
I'd get one.
Purely for the massive DSP.
I generally run 2x different cabs.
So I'd be able to do Stereo amps with 2x ultra high res cabinets each side.
I'd be running effects front end Off My board.

Re: Fractal Axe FX III
I found the AX-8 to be more than enough in many cases so the III is extreme overkill, but the possibilities are cool. I don't think I'll be lining up to buy one but I'm interested to try one at some point.

When these are as good as a katana I will consider one!

I think you need a mindset that doesn't care about these things being superseded. If you're happy to be at the forefront regardless of cost and depreciation then more power to ya!

For sure, there’s always going to be the next big thing. I’ll never need all that DSP, but looking forward to seeing how much “better” it can sound.
Good practise accounts for most tone issues though right??

Re: Fractal Axe FX III
I don't think it can get much better than a II. The Ultra was really close but just needed a bit more definition. I can't tell the difference between a II into poweramp and cab vs the real thing. My guess is that the III may be better but only by a few %.Molly wrote:I think you need a mindset that doesn't care about these things being superseded. ...Or I might try it and find that it's the best piece of kit in the world and have to have it.

I wonder if any pro kemper profiles of the katana are out yet, might slow down the sales a bit!Zaulkin wrote:You could try tone matching one for a compromisejeremyb wrote:When these are as good as a katana I will consider one!

Re: Fractal Axe FX III
Cliff on the Fractal forums has said it actually "sounds better" because of all the extra processing power.Zaulkin wrote:I don't think it can get much better than a II. His words were something along the lines of , he had to make compromises with the algorithms on the axeii because of limitations, so it would still process properly.
This new system is fairly limitless at this current time until new hardware
