Picked up a Vox V847A the other day and thinking it might be a cool platform for putting a more vintage circuit and so forth into... has anyone done this before and what mods did you do?

I’ve got one but it’s the newer version with mostly smd size components, opened it up to have a look at modding, saw the tiny components and closed it back up again. What does yours have?

Mines the same, chinese made SMD, was thinking replacing the whole board, will likely do the true bypass and LED mods first and then see how I like it like that :-)

Keep me posted on what you do, I wouldn’t mind modding mine to see what could be achieved.

I have done one before - new inductor and some cap changes. To be honest though, the biggest improvement was simply opening it up and rolling the pot back so that top end of the sweep was less piercing.
