Still looking for the right drive

Post by StrummersOfThunder »

I still feel like I’m lacking the ‘right’ boooteek drive/boost pedal

Currently have
Boost: catlinbread super chillee picosa
Fulltone (ewww) fat boost
Drives: hotcake
Catlinbread tweed 5f1

Really like the sound to the okko Diablo in @ gregsguitars stuff on you tube

Also enjoy Klon sounds when I hear them

Mostly want smooth drive, low gain , almost just the dirty end of clean but with the ability to flick on the neck pickup of the SG and get a nice smooth lead sound

Anyone got something hanging around that would do that or got any suggestions?

I really do rate the Greer Organic OD for the sounds you’re describing.

I’ve been looking at the Warm Audio Centavo, the whole Klon thing…Oceania Audio sells them here, and he’s got some black ones if you don’t like the gold or whatever it is!

I’ve got a Supro drive you could try if you wanted?
Would certainly do a low gain clean boost, it’s a very different feeling drive pedal, I use it wound right up and it’s got that spungey amp thing they talk about, but back off the gain and it would do a slightly dirty clean boost with some character…

I remember when if you had a Tubescreamer you were winning. It doesn't seem to rate a mention these days, but lordy, put one in front of a Marshall and you have drive.

I've always found the light break up sounds best if you get there via pick up, amp and speaker selection - pedals always seem lacking something in this zone, but maybe the Timmy is worth considering.

No talking. Lots of blues noodling though.
