To my recollection, every set of Gibby pickups that has gone through my hands have had that braided wire - the ones in question as well. I've never had a set with plastic wires.

Vindication!! Told the guy to email Gibson, he got his reply - PAF sticker etc etc proves they are what they're supposed to, and the RS tech is a complete dickhead.

Gibson are pretty good with their email support ive found.

Wow, they actually are. Emailed them with a serial number query, they got back to me in 2 days flat. Btw, post-2005 Gibson SNs have 9 numbers apparently.
