I reckon it's just people putting new strings on when they change pickups, they do take time to break in, always hate the sound of new strings :?

yeah always hated new string sounds, except on acoustics, but yeah new amplified strings on electrics is the most bleghh bright tone for the first few days

The only strings that haven't sucked out of the box have been the Dunlops I got from guitar stuff, 10-52 in drop C#, maybe the lower tuning stopped them being so trebley??

Yep on all my guitars, amps and even on my hd500....

The last one was a lie. But ihave eq on all my modellers.

at least 5 of my guitars have no tone knob...in fact 3 of them have no volume either :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

I moved to Sydney without my Les Paul unfortunately. The silver lining is my flatmate in Sydney has a vintage first year built dobro that is amazing, among many other awesome guitars like a gypsy jazz guitar and 70's Matons.

I find new strings are only good for about 5 hours before they become dull and lifeless...I found new strings were one of the most important things to have to get a good recorded electric guitar sound too. YMMV.
