I reckon it's just people putting new strings on when they change pickups, they do take time to break in, always hate the sound of new stringsVoxshall wrote:I previously stated no one knows why these pickups and PAF's break in, but the other day I found this http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/pick...l-2-break.html the maker of the pickups Dave explains why he thinks they do it on page 3.

yeah always hated new string sounds, except on acoustics, but yeah new amplified strings on electrics is the most bleghh bright tone for the first few days

The only strings that haven't sucked out of the box have been the Dunlops I got from guitar stuff, 10-52 in drop C#, maybe the lower tuning stopped them being so trebley??

I moved to Sydney without my Les Paul unfortunately. The silver lining is my flatmate in Sydney has a vintage first year built dobro that is amazing, among many other awesome guitars like a gypsy jazz guitar and 70's Matons.slash-ed wrote:Hey man, so did you ever record the "after" tone clips? Also, the link doesn't work.

I find new strings are only good for about 5 hours before they become dull and lifeless...I found new strings were one of the most important things to have to get a good recorded electric guitar sound too. YMMV.

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.
