Post by crowbgood1 »

Just bought a pickup and cover for LP.
I need advice on fitting cover please.
Links would be handy too.

That;s called "potting" the pickups and involves dunking(? or brushing?) them in hot wax and doing it correctly which seems to be the hard bit.

There's an article here
http://www.stewmac.com/freeinfo/A-LINDYFRALIN.html

it's a bit of a plug for Lindy Fralin, but there's enough info there for it to be worthwhile.

Thanks..another good article. Problem is I've found a few good articles on the net and they are all different.

One I looked at on u tube they dunk the pickup with cover fitted into wax bath.

I doesn't look to difficult. (or is it harder than it looks)? :?

You need to push the cover on so the poles stick out a bit and then solder the cover to the baseplate both sides. Then you do the wax job.

Ok..... I'm getting confused with too much conflicting info on the net.

I might just get our local guitar tech down here to do it.
But that was what I planned on doing (push cover over pup, solder at base, melt some paraffin wax, then bath the pup).
Then I got googling...now I'm confused.
