Gibson PAF 1962 Pickups

Post by AiRdAd »

Hi guys,

I was bored at work this afternoon so I went for a wander up town. I ran into a guy I'd previously met, who is into guitars etc. We got talking, and he said he's got a set of Original PAF 1962 Pickups, he's thinking of selling.

Does anyone know how much these pickups usually sell for? are they collectable? are they worth grabbing?

Thanks heaps

They're worth about $20 each, but I'm prepared to do you a favour and take them off your hands for $40 each if you like ;)

If he knows what he's got then he probably knows what they're worth.

Did I say $20? I meant $2000

But I can still only give you $40 for them. Each!

But seriously... I would recommend significant caution if shelling out PAF money.
Take care to authenicate their.... err... authenticity. There are lots of fake vintage PAFs out there.

'62's might have the patent number on them as opposed to PAF stickers. Real ones are pretty easy to tell by those in the know. Photo's will be great! $2000 actually might be close to the mark for our market. Maybe more o/seas.

Here are the pictures. One pickup cover has definitely been off, you can see the new soldering. One pickup measures 8.12k and the other measures 8.55k .

Ignoring their historical value for a moment, are they really going to sound better than the best newly wound pickups?
