Kent Armstrong pickups

As of today Kent Armstrong pickups can be ordered through http://www.dbmmusic.com. The website will have the prices and information about the pick ups in a week.
These pickups are cheaper then semour duncans etc, but there quality is just as good if not better.
If we do not have a retailer in your area the we will sell to you direct.
P.S you can win a free set of strings this month if you enter the short survey. That puts you in the draw to win a Guyatone Overdrive Pedal at the end of year.

It was great to meet with Kent.

I was going to say I use Bill Lawrence pups, but found it hard to get a word in edgewise... :)
He hit a chord that rocked the spinet and disappeared into the infinite ...

You found that as well. I asked him about Bill Lawrence Pickups, and he said he had a hand in helping design them.

They are very good, I might end up moving the one I got to the Neck position, and getting a slightly hotter one for the bridge....
But I need to have a bit more of a play and make my mind up.

But deffinatly better than the standard Ibanez ones....
Ummm....

It can be a little confusing, but they are all exactly the same pickups so that's ok. :)

Sky/KA JB vs SD JB?

Post by grolschie »

How does the Sky/Kent Armstrong JB compare to the Seymour Duncan JB? Is it splittable?

They're not the same as the SD JB, despite the sly choice of part number. The SD is slightly gruntier and darker sounding. Both are splittable. Despite the heavy promotion it gets, I don't think its his best pickup by a long shot.

Looking for a good rockup for 70's rock and heavier for my Les Paul. Was thinking a SD JB or Custom. Anything good from KA/Sky that is tight in the bass, won't sound like an ice-pick but has good harmonics?

The SKY JB should be fine for that, sopachrga should be able to give you a good review as he's just put one in.

Oh I heard my Name.....

Yeah I just put one in to the bridge position of my Ibanez RG370.
It added a bit of bass, quite a nice tight bass.

I was a bit worried about getting to much treble as my amp can be quite buzzy if given the chance, but this pickup was good in that sense, it cleared up the top end detail quite nicely, but did not make it harsh at all.

It has helped bring out harmonics a bit better, and string definition is better too.

All round it is pretty good sounding, if you tune down to dropped D it will go nice and crunchy for those Palm mutted chugs, with out going all muddy.

If your in Christchurch you are welcome to come and try it.

Plus for the price you can't go wrong!!
