Oh good. That was why I asked.
I would have lost all trust in any of your tone based opinions if you had really thought that.

Well don't place too much faith in me then. 8)

I had an HD500 for a few months but sold it on Trademe and reinvested in stompboxes. To be perfectly honest I am not at all confident that in a blind listening test I could tell the difference between the Line 6 modelled stuff and the stuff it's modelled on, but I did definitely notice a difference in feel when playing the HD. It wasn't for me. That's the main reason I sold it. That and the fact that I spent far too much time tweaking it and not enough playing.

5 months down the road, and with a decent ammount of boo-teek pedals I am very happy with that decision.

As someone pointed out t'other day. Musically (and IRL), we're all in different spaces and each space has its own sets of 'rules'. Its not for us to denigrate (nobody was btw, I'm chuffed how well everyone is playing lately) another's way of doing things because their space is different to ours. Buckers, singlecoils, valve, solid-state, processed through a PA or balls out live, modelling or raw - its all great stuff. We're doing something most people in this world can't do - playing a geetar well enough to produce a recognisable tune.
He hit a chord that rocked the spinet and disappeared into the infinite ...

Actually, playing guitar is really not a very exclusive club. I hand a random collection of mates over last night, and 4 out of 5 of them could play guitar.

yeah, but could you recognise their tunes?
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

They're a different medium. Treat them as such and go make something interesting with it. Use them for what they CAN do.

I'd quite like to try Ash's Benderbucker - one pickup to rule them all?
