EMG Pickups

Post by Razorfoot »

Hi Guys,

Im a new user here and wanting some advice on some pickups.

I have come across a fairly cheap pair of EMG 81 + 85 pickups on eBay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-EMG-81-85-A ... 4ac3efa81a

The price of these concerns me as to weather or not they are legit, seeing as the price is 1/2 the cost of every other pair on eBay and locally, and they come with a different wiring kit as opposed to the solder-less kits.

Can anyone off any advice to this, as i am looking to pickup (no pun intended) a pair for my gat.

Regards,

Richie.

If you compare the 85 with the pics from http://www.emgpickups.com/products/index/2 it looks off to me. EMG logo isn't gold for starters, and the 3 pin connectors look dodgy. Serial sticker looks different too, but who's to say that a real one isn't different from what EMG show on their website. I'm no fake pickup expert though...

Valid post.

Also - the Output jack is different to what EMG supply, EMG don't supply battery box or pickup rings. Looks very fake to me.

PM me for a price on an 81/85 combo. I'll hook ya up :-)
