Not sure if that comparison is fair tbh. The burstbuckers do sound much worse (muddy), but if my guitar started out sounding like that, i'd be reaching for the eq. Then the EJ might have sounded shrill.

But the EJs do sound very clear.
And... to add to the potential unfairness... the burstbuckers probably would be just fine for me if I didn't have the EJs in the vicinity for instant A/B comparison.

Interesting... I have to see what other gear he has. I have just listened to a bit of that tune again for the second time ever. Wow, it still did absolutely nothing for me. To my uncouth ears it even rendered the tone somewhat bland. I actually liked the demos I have heard of the pickups, perhaps it was just the tune that affected how my ears heard that tone?
