DC has a tapped one in the middle position of his strat. Used to be Kloppsta's pickup. PM me if you need some.

What's the general feeling? Are they any good?

It's really very subjective. All I can honestly suggest is that you trust your own ears. And also be very wary when considering sound files, as there are just so many variables.

Yeah, big grunty sound, compared to standard ones.

Cool. I ordered a couple as a lucky dip from Music123, seeing DiMarzios can't be sent over.

I've had an SSL-3 for a while now and tried it in a few different positions and I can tell they're very FAT! In the bridge it has an almost P90 vibe. In the neck i found it was lacking in top end - if you're used to that typical strat clean brightness you might have to compensate with your amp's treble settings. I guess it also depends alot on what wood your guitar's body is. In my case it was a lovely old Tokai with a very warm sounding alder body. I reckon it would be a good compliment to basswood or poplar...

Cheers for that. I'm actually going to be putting them into my project junkpile guitar which is made of lovely er, plywood. Hopefully the pickups will be able to sound good anyway!

Well I can tell you what mine is like as soon as my new guitar is all assembled. Using one in the neck.
