Anybody use stick on pickups? What do you use whe the tone enhancing acoustically transparent putty they come with is gone?

I've used Blutak. It sticks very well.

But maybe it has muffled my tone? How can I tell? I haven't got any left to compare. I'm getting distressed.

Help me Dr Phil!

Don't you mean Bluestack?

Not sure what kind of pickups you are referring to but I have used hide glue and superglue in the past for pickup sensors that are glued near/under the acoustic bridge (inside of guitar obviously). Prefer hide glue though as imo it creates a better 'transfer' bond.

This sort of pickup; removable.

Got you. What brandname/model is that?
Does it go into a specific preamp?

It's a Schaller Oyster. I usually run it straight into the AER but it works with all my amps.

I just wonder if the unit would work the same when mounted on the inside?

If so you could make it permanent. I ll check it out as I am interested to see if it would work for my hollow body guitar...

Don't want it permanent. I use it on the Mandolin, Matsuoka, anything else that's lying around and if I put it on the top of my head, it sounds hollow when I tap my op site.

Read up on it. Looks like a great lityle unit but my concern would be that it is not loud enough when compared to a traditional acoustic pickup output signal like the ones with the preamp mounted on the side of the guitar

C'mon, get a proper pickup fitted that does not fall off mid-gig. Honestly Slowy... :wtf:

(I used to gig with one of those, but that was in the '80s!)
