Sound problem
Hi Guys
Wonder if you can help me.
Lately Ive been noticing my TalonII is sounding kinda .... "Mushy???"
As if a number of the notes are getting mushed together. Esp when distorted.
At first I thought it was just my bad playing and maybe Im ringing other strings, but then I tried a few other guitars (jackson and gibson) in the same amp and they are alot clearer.
I dont remember my guitar sounding like this....but it has been in storage for 6-7 years almost.
There is a bit of rust on he pickups, but it has a had a professional setup a few weeks ago so the neck and frets and intonation etc is sweet.
This is what she would look like new tho mine has had a bit of a beating and has a fair bit of rust on it..

HSH - Dimazios.
Could it be a shielding problem or something?
Where would I start looking?
Any ideas?
IF there are people in wellington (eastern suburbs) interested I can visit ya with it and you can try it...prove to me its just my playing thats screwing me

Dont think its the distortion....as when I plug in a differnet guitar its not as bad.
And Im pretty sure it didnt used to be like this.
Can something go worn with the pickups/wiring/shielding over time that could cause this?
Strings are new and Ive tried 009s and 010s

Different guitars, different pickups, different sound with the same amp.
Pickups don't wear out so to speak. their magnets may lose strength over a very long time but that would probably make it less mushy. You've got a decade or two before you'll notice that kind of change.
Try adjusting the pickup away from the strings, or lower into the body a mm or two at a time.
Or just use less distortion.
Or look at your picking technique.
Or use less distortion. Just a little bit. One or two clicks. I pronise it won't hurt.

Don't know how old you are or how long you been playing but what you've desribed there is a natural maturation process that all rock guitarists go through.LordsWarrior wrote:Lately Ive been noticing my TalonII is sounding kinda .... "Mushy???"

Trust me, you're not alone.
Just a leeeeeetle tiny bit. Not all at once.... beeet by beeeet... maybe for ten minutes a day. You can always wind it back on again.
