I'm trying to figure out how to pull off pinch harmonics or whatever they're called. A mate once told me to strike the string with my thumb right after I pick it. I can't seem to do it though. Any tips would be appreciated.

It really is one of those things that's frustrating ... until one day, all of a sudden, you get the knack.

Move your right hand position up and down and try different areas, as there are definite sweet spots on the string, depending on which note your left hand is fretting.

Bumble around and discover it by accident... then 4 years later learn to use it properly... then over use it...

That's what I did.
