My New Guitar Hero

Post by johnny mullet »

Been listening to a few Jason Becker CD's over the weekend. Wow that guy had some serious talent. Any 80's metal fan must check this guy out. He is a pioneer and must have influenced so many of todays more famous guitarists. For those who don't know him, he now has a muscle wasting disease and he can't play a single note let alone have much quality of life. Poor bastard.

Fame & fortune indeed mean bugger all, compared to one's health.....
He hit a chord that rocked the spinet and disappeared into the infinite ...

I used to have a couple of Cacophony CDs, but for some sick reason I sold them. :?

I'll have to check out some of his solo stuff, what little I've heard has been pretty damn cool. I like that album he did with Diamond Dave too.

Becker was/is absolutely phenomenal. I've never heard anyone with such amazing technical mastery of the guitar; his overall musicality and compositional ability is mind-blowing; and his attitude in the face of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (full name in case anyone felt like googling) is absolutely inspirational.

And BG - well done that man 8)

I remember when I was first learning guitar and yearning to be a shredder, I had these big dreams about how I'd write stuff that was just rippingly fast and yet musical, backings that were solo's.. and then I heard Perpetual Burn and was humbled as he had done it all!
There are some REAL WICKED vids on youtube if you have a look. ;)
