Re: Pedal for Marshall plexi
I got the Dist+ and Phase 90 '74 script logo versions sent over from from Pro Guitar Shop for really cheap when they had a special. I figure that they will not be available for too much longer as the NOS parts supply dries up, so made sure i got them. I do not use them much, but they are just nice to have around. They also reissued the Dynacomp with the proper old specs, but they sold out before I could get oneScooter13 wrote:MXR Distortion + was popular used in to plexis in the 80s. Randy used them, and Paul Gilbert still does. Might be able to find a cheap one.
The 74 phase 90 is gorgeous and sounds just right to me, unlike the previous script reissue they did. Dist+ script RI is exactly the same as the first generation ones too. It is a very specific sound the same way old RATs of Muffs are. Higher distortion settings on the Dist+ cause the germanium transitors to sound more fuzz like than say a Boss or Maxon distortion. A really old school sound. Good for Sabbath jams on my SG.

There are a few that will work, but none will do it better than one of these. A Rat in front of a Plexi (or a JTM) is one of those classic combinations that just works.werdna wrote:I have a plexi head and I want to make it wail during solos. What pedal would you recommend?

Pete Thorn would make a metal zone thru a peavey rage sound amazeballs.
