Indeed, Ben. Sometimes, the small things count the most.

I think mine was being 2nd row center for Pink Floyd, when all the guys were still together.... it was incredible!!!!
Another time I went to see a DJ mate and he said, hey I want you to meet friend of mine and the guy turned around and it was slash, so we did shots for a while and talked.. Super nice guy.. But that was when both of us drank I suppose...
Got to hang out backstage with Rush, however Neil is a dick, he didnt even come backstage, but he has made it known he doesnt like meeting any fans... Geddy is pretty much up himself, or was when I talked to him, but Alex is awesome, he will chat with you about lots of stuff.. I think all three of them are big golfers as well, Alex asked me how I knew that they had a game lined up that morning, a family member of mine was suppose to go play with them that morning and ended up not going.....Didnt realize who they were... He said oh yeah, some guys from a rock band....I wanted to faint
Another awesome one was having an all access BSP for the first G3... Joes Awesome, didnt bother to meet Vai or Eric J, There was so many people back stage I didnt bother to try to have a conversation with any of them...It was just packed...

Recently, for me it would probably just be a covers gig that I did with Fromage Amore, the cheesy covers band I play in. It was for a teacher's end of year party. They were just all up for it, and they were a great crowd. Probably enjoyed playing Signed, Sealed Delivered and Footloose the most.
But I always remember back to the days when I was in a band in High School fondly. As much as we sucked, getting to play at school assembly or youth group (where we snuck in a cover of Nirvana's 'Breed') were so huge to me at the time. I think I was more amped back then, and enjoyed it all more, than I do today when I am more fussy about things like tone and hitting the right notes. Practices were always fun, and we always stopped for half an hour to watch Dragonball Z when it came on.
EDIT: if we're talking musical experiences where we were in the audience rather than the band, there are so many... Wilco at the Civic... going to both U2 concerts in Auckland in 2006... Foo Fighters at Vector in 2008 (the best show I've ever seen)... hearing OK Computer for the first time...

A few years back (1999) I went to an Aerosmith concert in Wembley Stadium, it had several support acts like the Black Crows, Lenny Kravitz, Stereophonics and 3 Colours Red. It was lovely hot day and the bands were on top form, the Crowes and Aerosmith were my real reason for being there. The last act before Aerosmith was Lenny Kravitz, He came on stage with a whole wall of white Marshall 4x12's and just blew the place apart ! He was fucking awesome on stage and stole the whole gig from everyone else. Everyone was talking about it in the pubs after the gig too.
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Me going "fucken A' at the front of stage at the Bell Block Hotel at a Dr Feelgood gig and Lee Brilleaux looking down at me and saying "glad ya liked the show, sunshine".
That was moving at 19yrs old.
