Never, ever leave the car open - even "just for a second". I can't tell you how many musos I know who've had gear ripped off this way.

Totally. I specifically insisted on an alarm that can be set to auto-arm after a period of time (30 seconds) to avoid the issue of me forgetting to do so. Even so, I never leave my car open even right outside the venue, particularly some of the spots on K Rd like Wammy, 420 and Rising Sun, just because of the amout of dogdy sorts hanging about.
