yeah man. i LOVE that pedal. plus i'm picking up that Dark Driving one next week to.
I kinda want to sell it to fund other goodies (tonebutcher pocketpus, dwarfcraft shiva) basically hella over the top fuzzes.

Thought I would give you guys an update:

1. I reduced the 'master volume' on the bassman down to near zero
2. I set the preamp gain on the bassman to break-up
3. The hotcake is set to a semi-clean boost
4. The compressor is now after the hotcake

With this set-up I get a pretty even volume level but can control the gain by playing softer or turning my guitar volume down. Some of my dirt comes from the hotcake but a good chunk comes from my amp at a manageable volume level. It sounds great with my Carbon Copy self-oscillating into the amp at break-up point - wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea but I get some some nice almost synth-like sounds out of it with sustained chords. With how often I find myself in the texturalist role lately, maybe I should get a synth pedal!
