break it down in to little sections dave and its actually not that hard, although your fingers do get tied

for me it is pretty much anything by warren demartini.... his playing is fluid and almost funky and really flows together which really fights against my ridged up tight approach :lolno:

The solo's on Rust in Peace. All of them. Fuck you Friedman....admittedly I've only tried learning one of them. I should prob revisit them and put some effort in

I've tried a few of his as well, but some of the unusual scales he uses require a reasonable finger stretch to be able to play and sadly my short, my girlie fingers don't allow.
The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.

There's something about it just doesn't seem right in a note for note rendition of another players solo.

There are some solos that you have to play note for note, unless you are epically talented and can actually improve on than the original. ymmv etc.

For me, these solos are:
La Grange (both)
Sweet Home Alabama (both)
GnR cover of Knocking on Heaven's Door
Similarly, Sweet Child 'o' Mine
To Be With You (Mr Big)
Get the Funk Out (Extreme... my missus LOVES this solo, especially at 3am and I'm wasted on Jamesons).
The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.

Play with me - Extreme. I've learned the solo but no matter how much I practise I can't get it up to speed.
Also MJ Beat It. Pretty straight forward but I just never got around to learning it properly.

Comfortably Numb, it always makes me want to cry :shifty:
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

I'd never paid attention to that before. That solo is nuts!

Would have to be Allman Brothers live version of Stormy Monday solo after keyboard solo.

I think it's quite simple.....I just happen to be simpler!
