What don't you like about Guitars?
Inspired by Kris's comment in the Excelsior thread.
What don't you like?
For me it's Jazz guitar.
I really don't like the tone of those jazzboxes with their rolled back treble and floating neck humbuckers into a super clean amp.
I don't like jazz players' endless, "Look how much theory I know" widdling.
I actually like a lot of Jazz music; as long as it's played on almost anything except guitar.

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

I don't like the way they feel to play. Which is one reason I play bass.
And the six string thing is a bit limiting, compared to keyboards... I suppose.

Try some instrumental funk instead. That'll solve it for you.slowfingers wrote:Inspired by Kris's comment in the Excelsior thread.

All of the above, less Vince's bass post... Though I do own a bass.

I don't like how quickly my fingers melt strings, and the brown rust that my fingers come away with after strings have been on my guitar for more than 10 days.

Fast fret? Or even an old tea towel could help immensely.Rhettsauce wrote:I don't like how quickly my fingers melt strings, and the brown rust that my fingers come away with after strings have been on my guitar for more than 10 days.

Re: What don't you like about Guitars?
i dont like that guitars need "servicing". i really wish guitars could be setup once and stay that way forever! i hate how sensitive to moisture and temp they are. id love a guitar that never needed its action or intonation reset or nut and frets replaced. i realise of course that if you did make a guitar like that it would probably be made from solid steel and be horrible to play! so alas i realise good guitars are a bit like good girlfriends, you put up with their crap because when you play with them you forget about all the annoying stuff
Little by little, by hook or by crook

The first thinhg that springs to mind is the shape of "metal" guitars...just does nothing for me I pretty much only like Tele, Strat, LP, and of course the ES-335. That's it for shape. everything else is fine.. imho.
Re: What don't you like about Guitars?
and I like the Dreadnaught too. How did I forget about acoustics...
