50 seem like quite a lot of steps.

Make sure your guitar is in tune... that's a bit like saying, when you wake up in the morning, it's a good idea to not expose contents of your arteries to air in copious volume through damaging said vessels.

Going by a lot of YouTube vids there's a fair few people who should listen to that tuning up point!

I liked the coil split mod idea by using series resitors with the coils... might try that, I need to tidy up my strat's guts anyway

Agreed about winding the tailpiece down on LP's.

But raising the action wouldn't be my thing at all.

I think intonation is very important. If your notes/chords are not ringing out at the right pitch, it's gonna sound bad.

Point #51 should be 'buy an Edwards'. Agreed, JB ?

I find my guitars with higher action sound so much better than the low ones...also intonation is something I need to do more. I think only 2 of my 15 guitars are intonated properly

Can't remember what number tip, but this cracked me up!

Tone nerds say non true-bypass pedals sound ‘bad’. Everybody else adjusts their other settings accordingly.

I liked that article. Went in skeptical. Came out impressed. It's like the distillation of the top50 most repeated advice threads from NZG since it went live.

Play loud! :)

The height of the tail piece on a Les Paul should be adjusted for each individual instrument, cranking it down against the body can ruin sustain and tone and also cause damage to the bridge on some guitars.

I find the best height to start with is one where the break angle of the strings over the bridge matches the angle over the nut, that is usually where the sweet spot seems to be. I also avoid letting the strings touch the back of the bridge.

On some models it just so happens this all comes together with the tail stop cranked down but mainly the older guitars and some reissues.

Nah, crank it down and wrap the strings over. Play loud. It's not rocket science.
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.
