Pedal for Marshall plexi
Chaps, and any strange women who are on this forum, I require some advice. I have a plexi head and I want to make it wail during solos. What pedal would you recommend?

Fulltone FB ver 3 ( some crazy db boost on tap)
The Plexi pedal I got from Belarusa forgot the name of it, its a FET pedal, very nice..
I had a dream last night, that everything I have got replaced with an exact replica.... (Steven Wright)
Re: Pedal for Marshall plexi
The is the pedal I got, I like it quite a bit, Higainer put it in the front of his Mojave (non modded one) he could probably chime in

Pedal for Marshall plexi
I have a JCM800. Kicking in a Xotic BB mb does the trick for me for liquidy, searing goodness.

Re: Pedal for Marshall plexi
My fave for that job is the Himmelstrutz Fetto custom. That's what I use. Not cheap though.
For cheaper, the Timmy does a fantastic job of juicing up a Marshall. Great live. Still have mine.
Bogner blue is pretty great as well.
Also it's worth checking out the ehx soul food. Cheap as klone.

I was so close to buying the BBMB when I got my Fetto. Good pedal.Pastasauce wrote:I have a JCM800. Kicking in a Xotic BB mb does the trick for me for liquidy, searing goodness.
Also the AC and RC boosts are pretty great if you're already cooking.
One more: EP Boost.

Re: Pedal for Marshall plexi
You're spoiled for choice really, the beauty of the plexi circuit is that it loves od/boost pedals.
Tonemaker's Nikita JFET Plexi pedal was pretty cool.
You can't go passed the classic's SD-1 & tubescreamer.
Creation Audio Labs MK 4.23 clean boost is great with straight up transparent boost, I believe Kiwiaxe had one for sale.
So far my favourite is MXR GT-OD.
Oh check out Rockett Pedals Blue Note overdrive.
Lance Keltner & PGS do great demoes of it......could be my next dirt box

Is this into the high gain or low gain input of your modded 1959?
Do you want a jump in volume, or just extra gain/saturation?

Re: Pedal for Marshall plexi
I am not so sure the Marshal in a box pedal would be a good option, except perhaps for quiet running. It would be like running through the same EQ and preamp twice over. The amp in a box pedals are called 'foundation overdrives' and most demos of them seem to be done with clean Fender amps.
Want classic boosted Marshall tones, then using the classic pedals they boosted with seems the logical choice to me. Do not really need the boutique priced stuff for this job. Microamp, Boss overdrive, Tubescreamer, DOD250 or any of their modern equivalents is all you need. For MKII Master Volume Marshall tones of the NWOBHM, try a RAT or reissue.
Anther point is that unless you have one of these new Marshalls that run at 0.1-1 watt, then getting that boosted tone requires plenty of volume.

Re: Pedal for Marshall plexi
MXR Distortion + was popular used in to plexis in the 80s. Randy used them, and Paul Gilbert still does. Might be able to find a cheap one.

SD1 (god's overdrive) or MXR distortion iii (will make it sound like it's on fire).
