If you are looking for a very transparent overdrive pedal try one of this.
the Blue note OD.
Its part of their Pro series.

I was sceptical at first but they are pretty good. I can click on the pedal and it just doesn't colour the signal that much if at all. they turn up on Ebay from time to time. Some other cool products on the site as well.
