Yeah, I know. But I don't think it was meant to be factual. Sorry to hear about all the trouble you guys had to go through.

Re: your nephew's marks: do they not have different marks for entering different unis?

In NSW, in my day, you got a total mark out of 500 for your final HS exams (the HSC). And then, if you wanted to study law, say, you could either go to one of the big unis if you had 400 points or more, or some smaller place in rural Woop Woop where you only needed 320 and so on. It also meant that, if there were too many accountants graduating, for example, the govt. could limit their numbers by asking for ridiculously high marks.

Do we have that here?

That size pickup could be replaced with a P90, at a quick look. They are pretty full range.

I thought lap steels are supposed to sound thin. Thats why Tony Iomi has a SG.

Guess you've never heard David Lindley. The dude's tone is anything but thin.

I thought it looked too small but encouraged by your comment I had a look. There are some Di Marzio's and SD's that would fit, and some that wouldn't. So I'd just have to check the measurements before buying. I thought they'd all be a standard size but they aren't. Trick for young players.

Need to fix the tone control I've discovered.

For those interested, Buck at Heywire Cables is now listing an Asher lap steel for $995. Dual humbuckers in them. Ben Harper has a signature Asher lap steel. http://www.heywirecables.co.nz

Cheers

Can't quite imagine Black Sabbath with Tony Iommi on lap-steel.

Hey, it's not that the type of bar(?) has something to do with the tone, is it? Just guessing, here.

I remember selling you those GHS 13-56 Lap steel strings now, if you want to bring your Gretsch into the shop sometime I can look over it and you can try my old Gibson BR3 (1946) it sounds anything but thin.

The Asher lap steels are great, the $995 ones are made in Asia under license but are still good. The more expensive Asher stuff made in L.A is right up there in terms of quality.
