Sounds like it's not superglue. The real stuff, cyanoacrylate, is also used in medical form for closing wounds, it shouldn' have any negative effects on your skin... aside from when you accidentally glue headphones to your lips, as I did when I was about 14.

Use the Superglue brand, or look for cyanoacrylate on the back of the pack.
The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.

Just generic superglue from the supermarket, cyanoacrylate as DM says, I find the brush applicator ones better than the foil tubes.

Clip fingernails, practise more, use lighter strings/lower action if necessary. A little bit of superglue might help.
