What are these bad boys worth, if I may be so bold?

Also, I thought the buzz around fractal was more about the amp models. Are the fx models standouts too? (assuming so if they went to the effort of making a dedicated unit)

Happy FX8 day! I'm still waiting for the freaking AX8s to be available...

Curious - does everyone else think of Fractal/Kemper as "boutique" brands? I see them as top shelf, high end gear, but not really boutique - I usually feel like "boutique" implies some sort of painstaking artisanal hand crafting or some dude hunched over a bench soldering point to point. Digital stuff doesn't seem to fit into that category for me.

I guess there's the Venn area between boutique and top-shelf that usually encapsulates the term "hens teeth".

By the same logic you could debate the same point with Friedman kit.

*edit: I suppose the axeFX has been round long enough to have sufficient numbers to be borderline mainstream... But somehow they're still WOWRAREZOMG to the kids.

Meh, semantics.

Yeah AX8 looks pretty cool, but I already have the AxeFx so felt like it'd be a bit too much crossover.

I got her for about 2400 all told; so not cheap, but cheaper than 8 effects of equivalent pedigree.

I'd say the fx models are as much a selling point as the amps, a lot of the pro endorsers use their AxeFx units in 4CM for effects only on their regular amps. They're on par with the Strymon effects in quality, but they're a lot more tweaky so you have to work a bit harder to dial them in. The old flexibility:convenience paradigm I suppose.

Yep the effects are a big deal too. Steve Vai is using Axe for effects, and so is the Edge if you can believe it.

Just the FX, there's a product coming out nowish that does amp-modelling in a floor unit.
