2 boards better than 1?
Curious what you all think.
Been toying with the idea of splitting my big PT Pro into 2 smaller boards. The idea being i still take both to gigs etc, but it may make fitting my mic stand in easier on smaller stages, aswell as making transport easier on me with 2 smaller boxes rather than 1 bigassfuckoff huge board that i currently use.
Downsizing isnt an option. Dont be silly about that.
I see a fair few of the pro rigs as a couple of smaller modular pieces (boards, mic stands and monitors) rather than a large board, with stand looming over and monitor further away than needed.
Anyone else use this kind of setup? Looking for pros and cons.

I had two boards for a while, it's a bit of a pain, need two power supplies, but if you've got a pro then you probably have more than one
Much happier with one board again

Re: 2 boards better than 1?
I make the pro work with just 1 and a fancy spec wall wart for the Pitchfactor. So i would need a 2nd power supply aswell but not too much of an issue to me. Maybe i could find one that actually will power the eventide gear? Shock horror.jeremyb wrote:I had two boards for a while, it's a bit of a pain, need two power supplies, but if you've got a pro then you probably have more than one

... or you could stick with the one pedalboard but run two amps. A wet/dry stereo setup is pretty awesome and really opens things up.

Get a multi-fx unit, embrace the fact that digital is the future, and carry one small case. You might even be able to download a patch that simulates your mic stand

Right. So we'v had 2 useful replies and a whole bunch of nonsense. Helpful
Im not going stereo. 2 amps aint happening.
Not going digital. All about the toanz. Digital micstand would be cool, if it has a drink holder like my normal stand. Otherwise no dice.

One board:
Pros:
Faster to set up
All in one case.
Less trips to the car
Cons:
Heavy
Takes up a lot of room
Two boards:
Pros:
Lighter
Can be moved around to suit smaller stages.
Could be designed so that you can take one board for certain gigs.
Cons:
May need additional power supply
More time spent taking the boards out and connecting them up.

Re: 2 boards better than 1?
Personally I try to minimize the number of trips to/from the car because I like to keep an eye on stuff. Large/heavy cases suck though, in fact - my rig is exactly the same as it was a couple of years ago but it is now in more parts. If you think that would work for you, I vote try it out.

If you've got a PT Pro full of pedals you can't claim toan as an excuse it will colour the sound so much!LucyTheSpud wrote: Not going digital. All about the toanz.
