Can't. It's such a strong lead tone. There are many other great tones of course but I'll agree WTLI is right up there.

Steve Rothery’s clean and lead tone. That’s where the benchmark’s always been at for me. Rothery aside, when I think of great tone I think of Brian May and Paul Kossoff

I actually prefer Mayer’s playing over his tone. His tone is just a great Strat tone, but it’s his playing and stylings that I dig

seriously though, its all subjective and tone, like most things, should be for the song. I just listened to EMI by the pistols and the guitar tone was fantastic.

Open ended question, the tone on John Mayers stuff fits perfectly. It would be shit on anything by AC/DC
