Yeah saw this yesterday. Reassured me about my future cab-building prospects.

"I wanted to test grill cloth but I didn't have any..." Significant change 7... T-Shirt changes tone.

"Did you know there were wooden planks crossing in front of the speakers in vintage vox" Yes.

I will agree cab design/build/size etc to an extent doesn't really matter. However, he literally bashed some cabs together then proceeded to test one clean loop through them. If he'd attempted dirt, I would be pretty sure the results would have been more significant. Not what he wanted though for likes and follows.

Also fixed/floating baffles would be affected by the volume produced as well I think, if a speaker is vibrating wildly at a high volume, a thin baffle with only 4 screws holding it to the cab would be too... Think tweed twin at full tilt.

"So I did the work" bollocks, he did no work ;)

I turned off, about half way through. Mostly because his voice grated on me and his clean loop even more so. Yes cabs affect the tone as much as anything else - tone woods, bone nuts, guitar cables, effect buffers, choice of pick, guage of string etc.

To be fair BG, he was testing with frequency sweeps rather than the loops.

even then, just a 10mm movement of the mic is going to change the tone. And what is in the room on the day etc...

I'm not disagreeing, its just a tiny part of the tone thing. There are many who can swear they hear differences between mdf and plywood marshall cabs - I can't and even before my tin ears, I wouldn't ;)

The urine evenly and authentically deposits years of built up Sav Blanc resins. It’s a dedicated art that requires serious commitment. Thank goodness we have you beeg.

How much for a Chardonnay finish? With a hint of French oak?

an extra $9.86 per sq m. It's not rocket science... $6.43 for the chard and $3.43 for the oak. I can do 'hints of french oak' or even english oak for less, but its not the same. Though the tone obviously is - sheesh.

and if anyone wants to specify a chipboard cab with glued/screwed corners, I'd be happy to do it. I'd charge the same, and I'd get two KFC meals out of the profits instead of one ;) Be finished a bit quicker though.

The cab I'm using for my 5E3 clone is an old home made bass one that I built some time ago. I've cut it down in size a bit & it's lined with carpet squares inside & has rear ports made from baked bean tins - also covered with carpet. It actually sounds good.
