Straight Recording
No this is not an anti-lesbian film credict. I was wondering how many people on the forum use direct plug-n-play devices when recording...
If so, which one?? How do you reckon it sounds compared to say your gigging tone??

I got the Boss MicroBR about six weeks ago & Im using it all the time. Its fantastic for remembering stuff or putting things together from a simple riff/pattern you may come up with.
Its also got a bunch of other stuff (mp3 player/trainer, onboard effects, a fairly good drum machine).
I'm totally blown away with it. It does have a few downsides, but I guess everything does.
Homepage is here:

A fairly good review of the good/bad points with lots of comments here:

I read reviews of other things like the Korg one and also the zoom one with the two microphones angled at the top, but this came out best for size/price & features.
You can see a few of things I've recorded with it in the toneclips section

Griffin i mic for me - simply because it's the cheapest thing I could find It's actually not far removed from plugging directly into a line in on your PC, and I then have to add a software amp sim.
Sounds completely different from my amp - but far more varied

i plug guitars into my (impedance matching) joe meek preamp then into the computer.
then i software ampsim it - i have tried everything, and like Nomad Rocl Amp Legends.
The guitar tones on my covers tend to be crap, but thats because of my lack of guitar tone shaping skills rather than the gear i think:)

Mids so haunting that demons took over my living room and now my guitar glows!
