They're marketing the SC-208 LTD 8 string as a 'standard scale length 8 string'. Does that mean 25.5 inch scale? If so then there won't be much tension on that low F# string!

Ibanez brought out a cheaper RG series 8 string (maple neck) which is less than 2k here. Some people prefer them over the original 8 string RG which costs 3500+.

Yeah the RGA is the cheaper Ibby 8. I prefer the rga body shape over the prestige and once you swap out the pickups it's a pretty killer guitar. I would have probably "past participle of get" one instead of the agile had I known the kahler hybrid was a waste of space.

I'm still a bit bummed on how every single 8 has active EMGS or Duncans. I'm not a fan of either which is what also steered me towards the agile.

Lots of talk about hard to cure string buzz with RGA8s tho.... Nice guitars tho and about $1600 here which is pretty sweet :)

Reeeeeally not keen on that jackson shape, looks like it has been melting!
Yup, I really liked that custom, heaps better than this one looks. I think the similar spec is his "Fuck you" to Ibanez - I read a post of his on the net about why he left Ibanez for Jackson, he said that he had been pushing for his custom to be made a production model, which they refused, and then promptly started making similarly spec-ed ones for the J-Customs...
haha yeah, someone linked to his forum where they posted a japanese market ibby RGA that had pretty much every spec of his customs, he wasnt too pleased with that.

Ibanez seem rediculiously tight on their signatures. So many artists have moved onto other companies for sigs, or have simply had issues with their sigs, or had their shapes/ideas refused (Wes Borland and John Petrucci come to mind) Someone on ss.org said that Vai's contract states all 7 string sigs have to be approved by him, or he is the only 7 string artist. Apparently Munky required Vais approval for his. Could explain why Dino STILL doesnt have a signature (which would be well deserved!)

Still NO idea why so many Ibbys have rosewood; it looks/feels boring! Maple or Ebony please!

Anywho, I don't know much about the guitarist, but that new jackson shape is great. Looks VERY similar to an ESP Horizon III or Caparison Horus. I like it.

Still drooling over the Pro X Warlock and Warlock NT, haha. seriously been wanting them to release a fixed bridge neck thru warlock for years.

Oh and the Robb Flynn epiphone V looks VERY um.........yeah.

That being said, they will definitely sell!

also more from Jackson

That looks like an 8 string Jackson to the right!

I think the silverburst V is Corey from Trivium. Really liking Silverburst at the moment. The guitarist from Suicide Silence has a 7 string silverburst tele with Schecter which looks awesome in silverburst.

i suppose being Digotech you'd have to use a "deathmetal" pedal rathar than a metalzone

hmmmmmm, a DIGItech valve amp just doesnt quiet sound right.....
Hurdy Gurdy.... some how... and I'm not entirely certain how mind you, an instrument that sounds like someone has shoved a nest of angry hornets into a goose with a kazoo bill and is randomly slapping the poor creature with an accordion.... Sounds amazing.

Awesome pics of all of the above guys!!!

I must confess, being a long time YJM fan, I'm excited about that new Marshall.....have been practicing my shred chops to give it a burl HAHAHAHAHA

Digitech valve amp? Hmmmm....I agree it seems a little wrongish. Looking at it, it also smacks to me of "generic please-insert-your-brand-name-here" Chinese made poopy. (Langcaster, anyone?). That's not fair though, I don't know a damn thing about it....I could be wrong...

It's awesome how seven strings are BACK- and I'm glad the manufacturers are FINALLY really starting to get behind them properly. It's taken a while because everybody in the industry got bitten last time 7-Strings were big news (Nu-metal). They were like the biggest thing for a while, then eventually the demand shut off like a tap and EVERYBODY in the world was left with piles of inventory they couldn't sell. It seems like this time round, everybody has been waiting to check that it's not just a fad before they commit to big production.....HAHAHAHAHA.

I must confess, stocking 8-Strings makes me nervous for the same reasons.....nevertheless I am committed to stocking them....we'll see what occurs....

I was thinking it looks an awful lot like a cheapo take on Soldano. Straight up Hot Rod series look to it.

The Ampeg stuff looks nice.

That Yngwie amp: could well be the best amp Marshall have put out in years, if they've managed to make it sound like an early metalface and the junk on the back panel doesn't muck that up. It should come supplied with a free frilly pirate shirt and a Monty Python boxed set.
