What model splawn was there and who had it?Polar Bear wrote:Single D Nik, single D...
And yep, good day. Had some fun today playing some Gibsons, I cared very deeply about how long the tenons were, and spent the whole time wishing I was playing a copy. Really enjoyed Sizzling's old LP, and actually really liked Ed's Explorer that is currently for sale. Really great guitar, despite the ridiculously high output pickups.
Lawrence's handmade guitars are phenomenal, and really really exquisitely made. Had a quick blast through the Splawn, that was really something else, really lovely sounding amp. Aside from that, everything was very loud, which I really enjoyed.
Some photos to follow.

The calm before the storm.
Scooter13 starts winding up the JTM, sounding very good!
Scooter's lightweight rig.
Scooter's very tidy board.
Tony surfing into tubeswell's rig. '62 Reissue Jazzmaster, and some homebuilt specials. Very authentic surf sound.

Hurdy Gurdy.... some how... and I'm not entirely certain how mind you, an instrument that sounds like someone has shoved a nest of angry hornets into a goose with a kazoo bill and is randomly slapping the poor creature with an accordion.... Sounds amazing.

More:
ironbird's very loud Gunn, awesome lil' Night Train and very pointy namesake.
Vince trying out Sizzling's Rockerverb.
Some loud things. Old Jansen, Old Holden, Old Ac30.
My current board. For this week. Excitingly worked first time when plugged in.
Some copies fakes, and Asian made homages.
Ed giving Sizzlingbadger's rather glorious LP some feedback.

That Goldtop pictured, along with Scooter's Traditional are two very good advertisements for Gibson.

I'm still not sure that the JCM800 through two cabs kept up with it.

Always love it when Lawrence picks up a guitar, sweet rig and his playing is a master class, not to mention his builds.
