NPBD: New Pedal Board
so I've spent some time - and a bit of cash over the past months.
I went from my downsized board back to the starship enterprise.
This Boss ES-8 is crazy cool.

gratuitous display of Duesenberg noted.

Disaster Area Designs Rotate-able Right angled ones.Conway wrote:What are the midi cables you're using Simon?
had a mate who was in melb stop by a guitar store for me who stocks them and brought them over when he flew back to NZ to visit.

there's a couple other in the market that are rotate-able but I liked the look of the Disasters.

Re: NPBD: New Pedal Board
Cheers. I'd quite like some of the One Control rotatable cables. Bit pricey though and my current straight plugs aren't really that much of a bother. Is the ES-8 on the updated firmware? I have an ES-5 and waiting for the update on that, which is due very soon. Mostly so I can change patches without sending the default patch midi time clock.SimpleSi wrote:Disaster Area Designs Rotate-able Right angled ones.Conway wrote:What are the midi cables you're using Simon?

annoyingly though - default for all patches is to send midi CC 81 and 82 for everything. so i had to make a new "default" clean patch and set everything midi to off/0
i couldn't figure out why every patch kept making my Timeline go into looper mode.
ES-8 lets you send 8 Midi messages.
so each message can be 1 PC and 2 CC's with values.
so I have used 2 of the 8..
one for an ambient patch where everything is clean, output internal buffer set to +6DB, Bigsky to a Cloud reverb via PC with a CC to increase Decay AND mix
then another PC and CC value to change my delay patch and set mix high too.

Re: NPBD: New Pedal Board
Are you using midi clock & assigning a button on the ES-8 to tap tempo? Im doing that with my ES-5 and Eventide H9 - works well, but under the v1 firmware every time you change patch it sends the new patch bpm to the H9. V2 allows you to not send default patch tempo.

Re: NPBD: New Pedal Board
Ahhh ok. I haven't looked into that.
Im using button 8 for tap tempo. Haven't checked if its defaulting to 120 when i change

You should get an external TT button and save switch 8 for more pedal switching goodness

Fair enough. I got an FS7 for my ES5 because i'm skeptical about wear and tear. Also less loops!

I read somewhere that the buttons are rated for 15000 presses before you get faultsMattallica wrote:Fair enough. I got an FS7 for my ES5 because i'm skeptical about wear and tear. Also less loops!

Re: NPBD: New Pedal Board
One of the coolest assign sources on the ES-8/ES-5 is the one called "CNum" (Current Number). It means you can assign the currently lit footswitch to do stuff - so, for example when you switch to preset 5, you could then assign any subsequent presses of footswitch 5 to act as your tap tempo or whatever.
