Because it still depends on everything else in your signal chain, and your personal preference. Too many variables.Molly wrote:Shouldn't be a black art, eh? You'd think there would be a set of simple rules you could follow (maybe there are) that'd get you the right cab for the style of music you play. Then it'd just be a question (just...) of choosing the right speakers to compliment that.
2 x 12 cab advice. Can certain cabs attenuate high frequencies?

Thanks Molly. Yeah a black it is. I have gone down quite a long process of elimination and this is what I think is left. It may just come down to me walking into the rockshop or such and trying a bunch out.Molly wrote:Shouldn't be a black art, eh? Good luck getting it sorted.
As an aside, I'm planning on making a closed-back panel for my 4x10. Of course, Mitre 10 don't do 'void-free Baltic birch' ply so it'll have to be something far more ordinary.
Let me know how the 4x10 thing goes man.

Imho speakers play the biggest part.
However, cab construction cannot be ignored.
Bogner 2x12 is the best I’ve come across.
Thick grill cloth, foam lined backwall help with diffusing V30 harshness.
The simple answer to the thread is yes.
Try various cabs & find “the one”.
