Re: Ozzy and Judas Priest double bill. March apparantly
I’m going to Def Leppard/Scorpions.
Bit of a mission to get tickets. Had to go through Ticketmaster Resale to get some. $172 the most I’ve ever paid for a concert ticket.
I’m excited to see Scorpions.
Other band on the bill... I saw Def Leppard last time they came to NZ, about 7-8 years ago. No pressing need to see them again but if I ask, are they worth half the ticket price, I believe playing HYSTERIA in full on this tour, mmm yep.

The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.

Scorpions and the Def together? Shit. Never liked Def Leppard. I always thought they were a pop band. Roth era Scorpions is the stuff i like. Some really clever music that I think might have even influenced bands like Rainbow. Then the 80s came along and Scorpions went a bit pop metal themselves.

Def Leppard/Heart had spare seats so I didn’t think demand would be bigger this time around. I waited about a month to book and it was sold out apart from $350 seats (and resale the same).
So I resigned myself to either not going, thinking maybe a second show would be announced (no), or maybe cheaper seats would come up closer to the date. As of last week all the $350 seats were sold out too, but resale had 2 next to each other at $172 so I grabbed those.
Looking at the floor plan, the whole venue is SEATED?! That would account for lower capacity, hence sell out. Bit depressing going to a seated rock show (even though I always opt for seats in the heights anyway).
Guess we can all sit there doing our knitting when the old codger comes out and sings about feeding inches to the hungry bitch. And then the other old bloke comes out to pour some sugar in the name of love. Fuck yeah!
Hoping the kiosk adds Earl Grey and adult diapers to the menu.

It’s a sad fact that metal is slowly dying
I take back what I said
I have made the effort over the last couple of weeks and basically loaded my Spotify with new bands and new albums
And yep there is lots out there some of it a bit shit but the majority of it damn good
So forgiveness is sought

metal is very "healthy" currently in terms of lots of bands doing "stuff" ... but no bands I have heard recently focus on great metal riffs (tuned to E or Eb). Every one seems to be tuned to B and it annoys the fuck out of meOlderama wrote:RightOlderama wrote:They’ve all had it

best new thing I have heard in the last little while is Roxanne (https://www.google.co.nz/search?safe=ac ... dROAHmAmNU) ... they come really close to being great although they just seem to come up a little bit short...the song "go fuck yourself" is really good apart from the chorus
