Gibson Les Paul Standard Faded 05
Any of you have experience/knowledge/etc? The good the bad the ugly??
Sought after or stay away?
There's one going on bookface for $3k, is that a tad high?

For a faded yes, too high.

$1k would've been about right. 1.2 if you're feeling really generous.

There are always temptations to stray from the path of righteousness, but one must remain strong and resolute.KNNZ wrote:haha! i'm being tempted by the G company from the many G lovers in this forumConway wrote:Money burning a hole in your pocket, Keon?! Stick to a Suhr or PRS.

Re: Gibson Les Paul Faded 05
Whoa okay you guys are talking about the wrong guitar entirely.
The one on FB is a Standard Faded (full spec LP Std with satin nitro), rather than just an LP Faded series (LP Studio type thing with satin finish).
Standard Fadeds are well regarded due to the thin finish and generally good flame tops for that time.
They're also very rare, I've been looking for one on and off for years and they hardly come up.
$3k is high considering what you could get from other similar glossed models, but considering the rarity it's not exorbitant. Certainly that's closer to what it's worth than $1k.
I'd probably like to pay $2500 for one but honestly since they're so scarce, maybe $2800 is realistic.
