Cheapest freight between islands for 4x12
So I’ve just sold my Egnator 4x12 to Wellington (after specifying pickup only) however after punching in the dimensions and weight it comes out at $250 from Mainfreight.
Any other suggestions?
Weight 45kgs
87x76x37cm dimensions which is 0.24m3

I sent my 4x12 with mainfreight and it was $90 within the north island.
Would NZ Post take a thing that size? If not, the guy might be shit out of luck. It's like shipping a wardrobe except heavier.

Mainfreight depot to depot is the cheapest option, the online things lie, if you ring them up and ask them for a quote for that it will be way cheaper!!

Re: Cheapest freight between islands for 4x12
I found when I last sent a diff to chch, the online tool was cheaper than in person...
Re: Cheapest freight between islands for 4x12
If you can find a mate who has an account with them it'll get drastically cheaper. I had a motorbike shipped with them interisland, the quote they gave me over the phone was more than double what the seller was able to get through his work.

Sounds like a ball-ache though. PITA to pack then you have to drop it at the depot? Honestly, just tell him to sort it.

Yeah 100%. They knew what they signed up for when the cab was in the south island and listed as pickup only.

Pack and Send will probably do it for slightly less than Mainfreight quoted - I shipped an oversized vert 2x12 (about 2/3 the size of a quad) from Aucks > Wellie for around $120ish.NippleWrestler wrote: ↑Mon Jul 05, 2021 10:41 amYeah 100%. Personally, I'd be adding on any extra $50 to cover off your time and hassle if it comes to that.

Re: Cheapest freight between islands for 4x12
It’s annoying for sure, but I’ve got around $800 worth of mk1 Tone Bender enclosures to pay for this week so if I can get it sorted for him At least that will pay for that. If I could be bothered I’d probably take the speakers out and sell individually, would have got more probably!NippleWrestler wrote: ↑Mon Jul 05, 2021 10:41 amYeah 100%. At least it’s not to hard to wrap, I’d just cover the top in cardboard and leave it rolling on the wheels probably. The Scarecrow wrote: ↑Mon Jul 05, 2021 11:06 amPack and Send will probably do it for slightly less than Mainfreight quoted - I shipped an oversized vert 2x12 (about 2/3 the size of a quad) from Aucks > Wellie for around $120ish.NippleWrestler wrote: ↑Mon Jul 05, 2021 10:41 amYeah 100%. It’s defiantly been a gigged 4x12 so not mint, apparently Billy Gibbons used it when he played in NZ last.

Re: Cheapest freight between islands for 4x12
This was starting to look like we had found a solution, Toll freight depot to depot $115 now the guy feels like he’s trying to pull out by delaying things. Said he didn’t want to deposit the money without some guarantee the cab hadn’t been thrashed, I said I only bought it a few months ago so there’s no way to know but all the speakers work and sound fine! If it falls through I might look at a cheap forum deal for a local
Pickup or split it into 2x English Greenbacks and 2 x Vintage 30s as pairs and give the shell away, I’d probably get more?

Its volume (no not the sound) but L x W x H that kills it with a 4x12...Reg18 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 05, 2021 8:19 amYeah I sold an amp last year around 40kgs and it was about $100 ishNippleWrestler wrote: ↑Mon Jul 05, 2021 8:07 am I sent my 4x12 with mainfreight and it was $90 within the north island.

Its not enough that we succeed, we still need others to fail

Re: Cheapest freight between islands for 4x12
I've been into the depot with an online quote and been charged 30 bucks more, so yeah... not necessarily way cheaper!! My dimensions were spot on, I even weighed with the packaging.
