I had a Vintage for a while that was fine, but I'm not really a connoisseur.

Re: Cheap Strat opinions? Vintage V6 vs Squire
Squier CV have fantastic build quality for the money, however the hardware is average and the electronics are average to poor IMHO. Also they tend to have an overly thick finish.
Vintage V6 build quality is average. Hardware and Pickups are superior though to the Squier CV (IMHO). Pots/switches/wiring are rubbish though.
So...I would say that the V6 is a better sounding, gig ready guitar out of the box, but may need a bit of setup work and the pots etc are a bit flimsy.
Squier CV is a nicer guitar to play (and better looking) but for the experienced guitarist you'd probably want to put a bit more money into the pickups (and potentially the hardware).
All of the above is my opinon of course....but an educated one.

This was the sort of info I was after, ex RS I assume you would have seen and played both options a fair bit. Appreciate the input.handsoffmatt wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 6:28 pm Squier CV have fantastic build quality for the money, however the hardware is average and the electronics are average to poor IMHO. I'm such a klutz.. The answer is obvious: GODIN!
There's 2 on TM but one has a floyd and the other is HSH.

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

If you're happy to lurk Trademe for a while Mexican Strats do occasionally come up for less than $1000. They're a very solid midrange option, but slightly more expensive than the others.

If resale price is a consideration then the Fender badge ends up being worthwhile. They hold value well.

I had seen these, I’m more wanting something traditional Strat looks and sounds but for the least amount of money and parts upgrade. I’m in what I’d call a “research” stage but still undecided.Wairarapajack wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 10:12 pm If you're happy to lurk Trademe for a while Mexican Strats do occasionally come up for less than $1000. I'd consider the new Ibanez AZ series in that sort of price range: https://www.andertons.co.uk/brands/iban ... :&pageSize:&

Anyone ever played a USA made Peavey Predator?
One just got listed on FB for $699 asking, what’s it worth?

Re: Cheap Strat opinions? Vintage V6 vs Squire
I looked at them before, I think the "USA Made" label might be a bit misleading. They're made overseas and assembled in the US.
With that in mind they can be decent, but that one seems a bit expensive.

Re: Cheap Strat opinions? Vintage V6 vs Squire
From some quick googling that might be one of the actual US made ones.
