If it does what you want it to do, leave it as is. If it doesn't do what you want it to do, buy the guitar that will. Jeez, don't you know how this guitaring thing works?!

On the one hand, that green sucks, strip it. on the other hand, poly sucks, strip it and take a kilogram off the guitar.

Re: Talk me down!
Ok, here some Saturday night something
The wood inside that green coat of poly is effectively straitjacketed... it can't move, expand, vibrate and be in synch with the good vibrations your body produces when you are making happy music with the band.
I say "free the wood to all its glory" and forever play it in glorious harmony with your inner self.
That is, if you have the time to do all that work.
Is that something?
When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

Geez, given what I paid for it, you didn't put up much effort!
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Yes it will, it will help you feel more ‘connected’ to the guitar. I don’t buy the ‘tone’ argument for nitro finishes*… but I get that they feel and look better.Slowy wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 6:36 pmI think the essence of this question is whether the refinish would yeild any real benefits.olegmcnoleg wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 6:29 pm It's your guitar, do what the hell you like with it.
However, the only way to not lose value would be to get a pro-level refinish in nitro.
* unless the guitar has a thick coat of 70s goopy poly. But finishes these days are way better.

You may strip the poly and be disappointed with what's revealed. How many piece is it? Are they uniformly spaced, centralised and sized? It's a gamble.
As Mr Suhr said, paint doesn't have tone.

Re: Talk me down!
Leave it alone, sell it and buy a Nitro finished guitar if that matters to you. Personally I couldn't give 2 shits about all these fancy finishes and minuscule things people think they can hear when they have spent a fortune on something. But then I can't play for shit either.

It wouldn't hurt just putting this on the Sell or Exchange part of the forums to see what you can get for this.sizzlingbadger wrote: ↑Sun Aug 07, 2022 9:05 am Leave it alone, sell it and buy a Nitro finished guitar if that matters to you. It's a win-win situation for us. Win if you sell or swap because somebody will be happy being the new owner of an amazing American made strat. Win if you don't sell because we can all post really offensive low-ball offers to Slowy with impunity!
