Re: Can anyone help me with a valuation?

Nice guitar. A few quick points: 1) Lifting frets on Martins (and many other brands for that matter) with bound fingerboards is very common/routine. 2) It's worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it. Like the very worn/beaten up Santa Cruz Tony Rice signature Dreadnaught that went for just u...

I'd buy that just for the Tolex.
Is that an offer?

Re: Gretsch Truss Rod Help Needed

Japanese standard series Gretsches are great instruments, so it's likely to be a relatively straightforward or minor issue. Having said that, these problems are hard to diagnose via the internet so it's best you take it to someone who is experienced who can give you an expert opinion after viewing i...

Re: NGD: El Greco

Nice! There's an Ibanez version (Same factory?) '79 version that looks identical that's local.... skinny neck front to back and the frets are almost non existent. 42mm nut I think, '80s Dimarzios etc. Be interesting to compare them!

Re: Forums have been slow, how about a 'In the mail' thread?

Not so much "in the mail" but recently arrived: 1965 Fender Bandmaster with matching original 2x12" cabinet. Logo has since been relocated to the correct position. Had it looked over/serviced by Rectified Amps here in Wellington and it really sings. The cab came with some weird non or...

Re: PRS SE upgrades

yea, I`m quietly SHOCKED at what the S2 series are like up close. do they have Korean Trems as well? No idea as I've only worked on stop tail models from the S2 series. Pleasantly surprised how well my santana se worked out of the box, no tuning issues or sticky nuts etc.. I thought the pickups wer...

Re: PRS SE upgrades

Having worked on a bunch of these lately I'd suggest making sure the nut is cut correctly and not worrying about upgrading the tuners (especially if it's non-trem). The stock SE pickups are fine but they are the same pickups (I believe) as you find in the stock S2 double humbucker models. At SE pric...

Things I should have kept:
1) '62 Guild X-175
2) Teisco EB-200 bass.

Re: Anyone like bass guitars?

Killer bass lines. Agreed. I was (and still am) a fan of JT and those Aria Pro II Sb basses. I used to have an SB1000 which was an outstanding bass. But I sold that back in the UK. I've since got an SB700 which is the same bass only passive. Every time I pick mine up, I can't help but break into Ri...
