Re: Metallica roll call

Re: Rhythm guitarist aval. original rock metal & blues

I'm just making an observation, no complaints here. It just struck me as being a bit strange.
My username is a little different, it's not a bunch of fully punctuated sentences without capital letters. Not sure why I didn't use a capital though tbh

Impressive selection in the "high-gain" room. ...Definately blew any residual dust & cobwebs of my dual rec. Now mith merr MMMMmmmmMMMmmmmmmmmmmm. Those VHTs sounded pretty huge! I especially liked one of ash's customs, I think it was a safon? Never tried a scalloped fretboard before,...

Re: Recommend me some recording gear

It seems like a decent set of cans are a good idea on my budget, Simon recommended the ATH M50 which seem to have a great rep and fit the budget so I'll be going with a set of those. That little mixer I mentioned above would come in very handy in the not too distant future so I'm seriously consideri...

Re: Recommend me some recording gear

Why yes it is, it probably still has your patches on it too (I just keep editing the same 3 or 4) although I'm thinking the omega might be a bit spendy for me  More inputs I don't really need etc.
I'll have a think about it though

Re: The Kiwi Metal Scene

I can vouch for:
As I Lay Dying
All That Remains
Darkest Hour (Undoing Ruin and Deliver Us are AMAZING albums, Kris Norris is one of my favourite guitarists)

Great bands. I would also recommend killswitch engage if you haven't already heard them

From memory yours is another band where I dig what the band is doing, but the vocals are a dealbreaker. That warlock does look the business though 8)

And most of them seem to want/play an 8 string or downtuned baritone 7 (drop g or something stupid) through an axe-fx

Re: The Kiwi Metal Scene

Most bands don't really fit into these sub genre things anyway imo. On my ipod it's all either under metal or rock.
Where the hell would you put opeth for example? I've only recently started listening to them but it seems like you'd have to invent a sub genre for them.

Re: The Kiwi Metal Scene

I just think it's strange that, while I like bands from most metal sub genres (except deathcore), I haven't really found much in nz that pushes my buttons. Maybe I'm just hard to please

Re: The Kiwi Metal Scene

For me (sounds like for others too) the vox usually kill the band. It's like most nz metal vocalists (that I've heard anyway) all had the same vocal teacher and all they got taught was the same cookie monster screams. Don't get me wrong I like screams, just not so much what these guys tend to do. If...
