Rockshop Albany - High End Guitars taken ...

We’re reaching out to the musical community in Aotearoa for your help. A smash and grab robbery at our Albany Branch in Auckland saw the theft of some very high end, distinctive and unique guitars. As usually happens, the thieves will look to dispose of these beautiful instruments quickly and for ce...

Re: Clone pedals taken to another level?

A logical starting point. The days of China the Innovator are close at hand. I predict much squealing and talk of immoral behaviour. Look forward to it. A Chinese friend said to me that he finds it an odd dichotomy that the Chinese can copy anything in the world and do a very convincing copy - but ...

Packaging tape is not the smell. It's choloform.

It's also not inflatable.

Nor a clone.

Ah screw it ... I have JB unconscious under my bed.

Re: Clone pedals taken to another level?

Slowy said - "destroys our ability to trust them" That's good for me as a retailer though in both the new and second hand markets I think he meant ‘destroys our ability to trust’ the second-hand market. Yep that's what I took out of it. But I added that new market as well. For me as a leg...

Re: Clone pedals taken to another level?

We do have some second hand gear but we really want to steer clear of it. It's such a minefield. If we buy something in and it breaks down we have to fix it. If someone buys something that dies we have to fix it. It takes up space in the store and we are overstocked as we are. We occasionally do it ...

Re: Clone pedals taken to another level?

Yeah ... no dis to JB but I am not a fan of cheap chinese copy / clone stuff including kits ... even just buying to see how it is. Every sale legitimizes their business model.

But I can see how it's intriguing to people and the low cost is more of a 'ah well ... if it's shit ... it didn't cost much'

Re: Stolen Gear - Update 18th Oct 2017 ...

Boo for burglars! Have to wonder where it all ends up. Some of it is very distinctive. Haha ... I forgot my signature! And yes, sadly it will get destroyed when they realise it's unique and traceable. Rather than just leaving it outside a music store and going off to nick a TV or something - they d...
