Re: Godin guitars

Godin are as excellent guitars now, as they have been since the 90's when people were still calling them a "sleeper" brand haha.

I have two Godins (Multiac ACS and a Montreal Premiere) - both of which are wonderful!

Re: Cheap Strat opinions? Vintage V6 vs Squire

Squier CV have fantastic build quality for the money, however the hardware is average and the electronics are average to poor IMHO. Also they tend to have an overly thick finish. Vintage V6 build quality is average. Hardware and Pickups are superior though to the Squier CV (IMHO). Pots/switches/wir...

Re: Martin monel strings

Not many retailers carry these in stock (they're not a massive seller) but pretty much EVERY NZ retailer has access to them. Ask your favourite music store if they can order them for you. Hi Matt!! Hope you're doing OK over there! Heeeey Grant. Yeah, I'm all good. Pretty well acquainted with the in...

It’s a proven factoid that no-one ever got laid playing a PRS.
Not meaning to be argumentative, but that is patently incorrect
Personal experience Sir?
Yes

Naturally my opinion is no more valid than yours, but I can report that I've had a couple of good hangs with Mary and I'm of the opinion she's a pretty great human.

Re: HD500X

Years ago, before I worked for BOSS, I was looking to use an HD500X for effects only (no amp modelling) but found it to have an ENORMOUS amount of tone suck and noise issues when used in this manner. (as a standalone modeller/FX unit, it was great!) I instead ended up with a BOSS GT100, which worked...

Re: New Mesa Day

All Mesa's coming into NZ were wired for 230v from the dawn of time up until about 2014-2015 (I can't remember) not long before I left Rockshop. At that time I asked Mesa to start supplying us with 240v as we had frequent minor issues with Mesa amps blowing fuses on power up. When amps are turned on...

Re: playing through headphones with spotify?

I'm biased of course, but my BOSS WAZA Airs are the absolute best and most inspiring piece of "at home" gear that I've ever had. Their amplike "feel" under the fingers shits all over iRig in my opinion.
Great for playing along with Spotify. Would highly recommend.

Re: John Mayer Megathread

Mighty fine guitarist. Can not listen to him talk though. I got the Where The Light Is DVD when it came out because I liked his playing, but the interviews really put me off him. I met John Mayer at K'rd Rockshop on his first NZ tour. He came into the store and I sold him a couple of things. It was...

Re: ABCABS - Any Info?

Ryan always used to talk to me about a guy he had that he worked with (locally in AKL) to build cabinets / headshells for the amps he designed. I would hazard a guess that this cab is made by that guy.

Re: Buying from Japan via Reverb.com?

I bought a Washburn N4 Authentic from them direct. Dealt with Jason...He is awesome. Jason left Ishibashi some time ago. Ishibashi went through a period recently where they stopped shipping to NZ/AU because of the CITES complications. Not sure if they have readdressed the situation since the CITES ...
