Re: NGD

Thats real pretty.... just lovely!!

Ormsby guitars are epic; I certainly wish I could justify one, eh, though I'm not sure how someone old like me would cope with a fanned board!!

Thanks for the heads-up!!

Re: P90s; who has an opinion?

The worst kind - mostly Kiwi's Yeah... there's apparently quite a few here, eh; loads of OAPs and out-of-work stoners with no wish to work - the oldies are from all over Aus and NZ and seem to use Hervey Bay as a base to join the grey nomad trek around the Lucky Country... There's a whole lot of ga...

Re: P90s; who has an opinion?

Thanks, fellas; I'll invest in a set and we'll go from there!!

@Molly.... yeah, it's OK, really, and we're about 200m from the beach in Point Vernon. It is, however, full of Australians which takes the gloss off it a bit.... ;-)

P90s; who has an opinion?

You shy, retiring blokes will undoubtedly need to be gently coaxed into sharing your experiences/opinions, but what do y'all know about the Kent Armstrong P90s currently floating about on eBay?? I'd like to put a set in a modded guitar I'm rebuilding, and I have to say, the price is certainly right!!

Re: Show us your lap... steel

Can't find any pix of mine at the minute, and it's buried in a mountain of gear under a tarp but I have a NZ made Commodore six string, which was tuned to Em, G6 or C9, depending on the setlist.

I'm currently trying to find a pedal steel with 5 knee levers for less than a kings ransom....

Re: Yay, me!!

Vantages! Such a mainstay of 80s pub bands! Whatever became of the brand? The parent company - Matsumoku - went out of business in Japan in about 1987, though some Westones and APIIs were still in limited production in Korea until about 1992 when the whole shebang went under. Shame, too, as the ins...

Re: Fender Stratocaster Tribute

My one... a real mongrel which I'm not sure has much left of the original guitar! http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u66/forthill/Strat/DSC_0001_zps4056d0be.jpg I dearly would love to try a set of BN Irish tour pickups in it; not exactly sure what it has at the moment but it has had about five p/u c...

Re: New/old 80s glam rocker....

I know... drowned in Lake Ugly etc. etc.... BUT.... how many other guitars point (see what I did there?!?!) to a specific era, in this case, the hair metal 80s with such ballsiness and panache?! Not too sure I'd gig any of these horrors these days, but sure am tempted to take the Raider...

Re: New/old 80s glam rocker....

My apologies, gents.... yes, it is a Westone - a 1984 Raider II which still needs a little works to complete. I'm tracking down the fonts used on the headstock to do some waterslide decals.

I now have pointies from 4 of the Matsumoku brands which I'll put together soon for a photo op....

New/old 80s glam rocker....

For those of a delicate nature, turn away now; this is MEGA-bright... Started out like this.... http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u66/forthill/1984%20Raider%20II/DSC_0002_zpscf496954.jpg .... missing parts and with truly munted points and tuners but with tons of mojo.... http://i165.photobucket.com...

Re: Within arms reach...[Pics]

Sat in a rack in the lounge... heavily abused/modified stratothing, Westone Clipper, Vantage VA900, Westone Pantera and Vantage Avenger. http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u66/forthill/Avenger%202/DSC_0013_zps4d765726.jpg However, since this was taken, I've 'lost the muse', as it were, and bundled a...
