Re: Has anyone tried graphtech ratio tuners?
buy a gibson e-tune - it can change to any tuning within 10 seconds with one or two strums. I like the theory of being able to push a button and instantly have a different tuning, but did it actually work? The internet chatter says no. Even if auto-tuning worked perfectly, I would just go getting a...

Re: Has anyone tried graphtech ratio tuners?
Have you heard Adrian Legg play? He has tuners that let him move between tunings at the flick of a wrist...which he does mid-song across multiple strings. I thought he used something like a D-tuna, but then I saw him live. He just turns his insanely high ratio tuners very quickly and very accuratel...

Re: Has anyone tried graphtech ratio tuners?
I picked up some gotoh 21:1 tuners for my acoustic. Got them on last night - just what I was after. Easier to fine tune for my weird tunings. Happy!

Re: Les Paul and Tele tuning stability tips?
I just checked in regards to my Tele bridge question and both bridges seem to be spaced 54mm. But the gotoh one seems to feel better in terms of spacing because the strings don't slip off as easily. Weird.

Re: Les Paul and Tele tuning stability tips?
So I sucked it up and bought a babicz telecaster bridge for my Tele. 6 saddle version. Firstly, holy shit - this sounds noticeably different unplugged and the sustain is incredible. It really is a level up in design. Only thing is... In the heat of the moment I didn't take into account the string s...

I bought them off Nik.
That's confusing.

I'm loving the "Vintage Vibe" underwound pickups I picked up here. I used them in that Mike C vid.

Re: Molestation: An Ethical Perspective.
Pots and wiring are easily swapped back. Refretting if it's a bit fecked is surely an upgrade. If it's a guitar I really like, I go to town with the mods. Do it. I think of guitar molestation being more like when I sold a vintage Ibanez hollowbody to a guy who didn't like the volute, so he cut it of...

Re: Les Paul and Tele tuning stability tips?
Regarding your Tele. I have found string retainers on the headstock can impact tuning. Particularly the vintage round brass variety which may not be applicable to you. However replacing with a graphtec version sorts the issue nicely. 3 barrel bridges are fine but for better intonation, slanted barr...

Re: Les Paul and Tele tuning stability tips?
How do you string your guitars? In my experience it's always the nut. My '68 custom RI stayed in tune forever, but a few slots were cut too low. I had a bone nut put in, and the stability went comically backwards, which led to some anger towards the "luthier" who did it. I put a graph tec...

Re: Les Paul and Tele tuning stability tips?
Any point of contact can cause slippage, on the LP that's bridge saddles, nut slots, and to a lesser extent the tuners themmselves. Its worth it on a older guitar to remove any burrs that exist in the slots at either end. Fold over a piece of 400 grit sandpaper and rub it in the slots until theres ...
